New Class Content

CareAcademy is excited to announce the release of three new classes in January, designed to provide direct care workers with the skills they need to excel in their roles.

1) The first class, Basic Cooking Skills for Direct Care Workers (CARE0603), is aimed at direct care workers who prepare meals for clients. This class was created in response to numerous customer requests and will provide caregivers with ways to safely and effectively prepare meals for clients with and without recipes. It will also teach basic cooking techniques and tools to aid meal preparation, as well as how to modify meals based on client care plans and client preferences. The class is 1-hour long and will be available in interactive lessons that contain animated videos.

2) The second class, Defensive Driving for Direct Care Workers (CARE0407), is aimed at direct care workers who drive a vehicle to and from work. This class was also created in response to customer requests and will provide caregivers with an overview of basic defensive driving techniques to keep in mind when driving. The class is 20 minutes long and will be available in interactive lessons that contain animated videos.

3. Recognizing and Preventing Caregiver Burnout (CARE0904). This class is designed for non-medical direct care workers, primarily in home care settings but also applicable for DCWs working in facility-based care settings such as Assisted Living Facilities and Adult Family Homes.

Burnout is one of the most significant challenges in the healthcare industry today, and workplace stress and burnout increase the likelihood of suicide. That’s why this 1-hour class is aimed at helping caregivers understand the dangers of burnout, recognize the signs and symptoms in themselves and others, and apply strategies to prevent burnout and suicide.

All three classes are available to customers who purchase the Complete package and do not satisfy any new compliance requirements. Recognizing and Preventing Caregiver Burnout is also available in the Essentials, Home Health and Dementia Care packages. They are great addition to the existing classes that we already have, and we hope they will be a valuable resource for our direct care worker audience.
